Visual Thinking Strategies
The Visual Thinking Strategies Program employs inquiry-based art education techniques to develop a variety of skills: oral and written language literacy; skills for collaborative interactions among peers; and critical thinking techniques. The evidence-based thinking the students use to learn about art can be transferred to other subjects and helps boost writing skills.
The Exploratorium Science Program is a dynamic hands-on learning experience for elementary school-aged children designed to increase the amount of science exposure during the school day. Students use the scientific method to ask and answer scientific questions by making observations and doing experiments. Through journaling and inquiry-based science experiments, the program enhances reading and writing skills and meets the standards for English Language Development (ELD).
Enables smaller learning communities designed to better support incoming freshmen in order to build a strong foundation for success in high school. A group of teachers works closely with a particular group of students to monitor their progress, provide academic support and intervention, and address needs that arise. Teachers are granted specific time to collaborate and plan new learning opportunities.
